Western Maryland Scenic Railroad in January?!?

This past weekend I participated in a Western Maryland Scenic Railroad photo excursion. Typically the WMSR only operates until late December, so it was a great opportunity to be able to shoot it on a nice cold snow-covered winter day.
The train left the station a little past 7:30 am, so it was nice to be able to shoot the train in some unique lighting situations as well.

I'm really happy with the shots I was able to get, so it's really hard to pick favorites from the shoot...but here are some of the more unique shots. You can view all the shots via the link at the bottom of this post.

WMSR #734 crossing the Potomac River just before sunrise

Pulling through the Narrows just after sunrise.

WMSR #724 passing the new barn on Helmstetter's Curve

Snow-covered trees approaching Brush Tunnel

Crossing one of the two switch-back bridges

Exiting Brush Tunnel

heck, I could probably post 20 more that I really like, but in interest of keeping this post short, you can just view all of the pics here - Western Maryland Scenic Railroad January Photo Freight. (the first 34 shots are from the weekend shoot)

I'd love to hear which shots are your favorites. Thanks....
